Rick Warren's Whole Bird
by babb brodman - Tuesday, 13 May 2008, 02:47 AM
Anyone in the world

By Michael Bresciani Like Dr. Richard Land I have also seen the importance of becoming involved with the democratic process on every level. It is not as important as the call to the gospel but it is folly to ignore political process. From the single vote to full blown activism it is all too apparent that doing nothing would be fatal to freedom to all that is right and in the end to society and the church itself. Unfortunately I have discovered that the church has a lot of folk who seem to have little political savvy. Perhaps that is why Jesus said, for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Luke 16:8 A few Christians who are politically inept pose no great danger but for those who rise to celebrity status it is a different matter. The sphere of influence increases exponentially as does the responsibility. Hollywood actors are best known for misusing their celebrity to make swelling unsubstantiated and blaringly cockeyed statements. Reaching the heights of success does not guaranty that what they say didnt come from the depths of hell. It is a common error that has become all too common among Christians as well. When asked if he is politically left or right, liberal or conservative Warren often replies with his now famous retort Im for the whole bird. Some may think this is a reflection of a very large minded individual who prefers to take in the full spectrum of the matter, yet others think the bird is a chicken and the position is chicken too. First analysis of Warrens whole bird idea comes from Ricks own bible. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Rev 3: 15-16 Straddling the fence may work well in politics but it is particularly abhorrent to the Lord when found in his people. It isnt about taking sides as much as it is about sending a clear signal. For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 1Cor 14: 8 Most of the criticism of Warren politics comes because Barack Obama was invited to speak along with others in Warrens conference on aids. Obama is a left wing liberal who supports abortion rights and same sex marriages. Warren is quick to remind those who question sharing the podium with Obama that the subject was aids not abortion or same sex unions. I would stand corrected if someone could show me that what we stand against is just as important as what we stand for. Compartmentalizing issues may also work well with politics but fails miserably in Christianity. Not leaving this statement hanging in mid air from nothing lets look a bit further into the analysis. No one would disagree that the spread of aids is a direct byproduct of an age of permissiveness. Abortion is also a byproduct of the me generation. Its a play but no pay attitude that says, My sex life cannot not be threatened by anyones idea of morality but the life it may produce can be ended with complete impunity. Blaming society for causing the spread of aids may not always be acceptable but taking personal responsibility for our own actions is. Although inverted the truth coming out of the whole analogy remains the same. The promotion of abortion rights and same sex unions is connected at the hip to the spread of aids. Its like trying to sell a generation a scam based on play any old way and youll not have to pay and no one notices the scam until they get a bill in the mail marked aids pay up or die. Just because the term consenting adults has taken on an air of holiness doesnt mean it comes without consequences. Were quick to warn children not to play with matches but that doesnt mean adults dont get burned in fires just as easily as children. Sexual freedom is like most all other freedoms it is not free. During the civil war a union soldier found himself separated from his company. He knew he was near the Mason Dixon line and not wanting to get shot by either side he wore blue pants and a gray shirt. As he crossed the line the Yankees shot him in the chest and the Confederates shot him in the pants. It worked! He didnt get shot, he got shot twice! The bottom line is that Warrens bird cannot fly. One wing wants to go up while the other wants to go down you cant have it both ways. Rev Bresciani is the author of two Christian books one that is entirely on the second coming of Christ. He is a contributing columnist for several online news and commentary sites. His articles are read throughout the world. Are You Illegally Classified by Your Employer as an "Independent Contractor" and Not An Employee?
by babb brodman - Monday, 5 May 2008, 02:55 AM
Anyone in the world

By Gregory Cartwright Are You an Independent Contractor or an Employee? Many businesses attempt to avoid their responsibilities as employers by improperly categorizing employees as independent contractors. By doing so, they attempt to avoid paying employer contributions for such things as taxes, social security, insurance and workers compensation leaving the employee to pay self-employment taxes, insurance and other costs typically borne by the employer. Further they attempt to avoid wage and hour regulations (eg overtime and meal breaks), liabilities for discrimination and wrongful termination, and also seek to avoid liability for the negligent acts of the independent contractors. An employer who improperly categorizes an employee as an independent contractor faces severe penalties from the taxing authorities, and may be liable to the employee for such things as overtime pay, vacation pay, insurance payments or other benefits. Doing so is illegal, and many independent contractors may have claims against their employers for the improper characterization. There are several factors to consider when determining whether or not a worker is actually an employee under the law and not an independent contract (regardless of what the employer calls them). Over the years a list of factors has been developed by the courts and the taxing authorities in determining whether or not a person is an employee or an independent contract. These factors are codified in the relevant statutes of many states. For example, The California Labor Code 2750.5 provides in part: Proof of independent contractor status includes satisfactory proof of these factors: (a) That the individual has the right to control and discretion as to the manner of performance of the contract for services in that the result of the work and not the means by which it is accomplished is the primary factor bargained for. (b) That the individual is customarily engaged in an independently established business. (c) That the individual's independent contractor status is bona fide and not a subterfuge to avoid employee status. A bona fide independent contractor status is further evidenced by the presence of cumulative factors such as substantial investment other than personal services in the business, holding out to be in business for oneself, bargaining for a contract to complete a specific project for compensation by project rather than by time, control over the time and place the work is performed, supplying the tools or instrumentalities used in the work other than tools and instrumentalities normally and customarily provided by employees, hiring employees, performing work that is not ordinarily in the course of the principal's work, performing work that requires a particular skill, holding a license pursuant to the Business and Professions Code, the intent by the parties that the work relationship is of an independent contractor status, or that the relationship is not severable or terminable at will by the principal but gives rise to an action for breach of contract. The key questions to ask are: Does the employer have the right to control the manner in which the work is completed? Does the provide the tools and equipment for the job? (as opposed to the worker providing his or her own tools and equipment ) Is the worker prohibited from competing against the employer and/or working for other employers at the same time? Is the worker paid by the hour or with a salary? (as opposed to being paid to complete a distinct project) If the worker can answer some or all of the foregoing questions affirmatively, then that worker may very well be an employee entitled to all the rights of an employee. If you think that you have had your employment status improperly categorized as an independent contractor by your employer you should contact an attorney to discuss your options. The Art of Diecast Collecting
by babb brodman - Friday, 2 May 2008, 01:26 PM
Anyone in the world

By Robert Benjamin Collecting diecast vehicles consists of acquiring specific items based on your particular interests, such as airplanes, cars, trains, ship models, etc. Although some people just accumulate them, this is a passionate hobby for most folks, in which the genuine collector organizes carefully those items to catalog them and proudly display them. The depth and breadth of every collection is as unique as every collector is, and they are the ones that determine if a collection will focus on a specific subtopic within their area of general interests or if they only want to accumulate determined items. As an example, a collector may collect diecast vehicles trying to accumulate any or all of them, while another individual could prefer collecting only a model, brand or marquee. Diecast vehicles and toys are an example of a collection that is never-ending. When you start collecting these vehicles it is like traveling back in time until the early decades of the 20th century when manufacturers such as Tootsie Toys in the United States, or Dinky Toys in the United Kingdom first produced the first diecast toys. Because the term "diecast" refers to any product produced using the casting method, the first models on the market were small cars or vans without plastic windows. Over time, the vehicles were made of plastic and metal, more commonly an alloy of zinc and aluminum, including not only cars but also scale models of airplanes and trains, although automobiles are still the favorites among all of them. With more than 50 popular brands including Altaya, Bandai, Brooklin, CMC, Dragon Wings, Exoto, Guisval, Ixo, Jada, Johnny Ligntning, Kyosho, Lledo, Matchbox, Minichamps, Norev, Plasticos Argentinos, Racing Champions, RCCA, Revell, Tekno, Tomica, UT Models, Vitesse, and the popular Hot Wheels introduced by Mattel, among others. Like with other popular collecting fields, diecast collecting has specialized commercial dealers that trade vehicles and related accessories. In fact, many individuals start collecting cars as a hobby to become dealers at a later date, either turning this hobby into a profession, or as a means to get extremely rare vehicles for their own collections, while they help other collectors in their pursuit of showcase-model cars. In the United Kingdom, there are teams specialized in visiting small and larger toy fairs to acquire incredible cars, in good conditions from Dinky Toys and Corgi, the main British collectibles companies. Dinky Toys was first introduced in early 1934 by Meccano Ltd of Liverpool, England, presenting a new line of modeled miniatures, as diecast vehicles were first known. Corgi Toys began producing scale model cars until July 1956 under the supervision of Mettoy Playcraft Ltd. in Swansea, Wales, along with Dinky Toys, and the American Tootsie Toys, which is one of the most wanted brands of collectors worldwide. However, there are many other popular manufacturers from the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, etc. Rarely a diecast collector completes a collection because new models of cars are always available, and collecting never stops, you can always expand or start an entirely new collection in a subtopic, such as cars, then sport cars, vans, etc. From Hot Wheels to Matchbox and from Bandai to Tomica, including all the other brands, diecasts models include popular automobile marques. Packard, MG, Morris, Hillman, Austin, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Citroen, Opel, Triumph, Talbot, Gwynne, Vauxhall, Reliant, Singer, Bristol, Wolseley, Innocenti, Healey, Siddeley, BSA, Darracq, Crossley, Jowett, Frazer Nash, Northern, Renault, Ford, Chrysler, and the classics Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Rolls Royce, just to name a few. Broadening a collection is not that hard, even when focusing on a single marquee, because there are different models from the twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, etc. Hence, every diecast Collector has a world of possibilities when gathering diecast models from almost any period of time as early as models from 1885, when the first automobile driven by internal combustion was introduced by German inventor Karl Friedrich Benz, to actual models in modern car showcases. Diecast vehicles come in various scales, the most popular ranging from 1:28 to 1:64 scale, although many collectors prefer focusing their collections on the 1:43 and 1:50 scales. Diecast toys were originally designed for children, but the collecting boom started during the 1950's when grown children stated to keep their cars instead of throwing them away and adults discovered them as valuable collectible items. There is computer software that is made just for collecting diecast vehicles. Anyone who has a small or large diecast vehicle collection can easily keep track of what vehicle they have, the color, condition, cost, value, scale and lots of other info for each record (vehicle). This is the most easiest to use software of it's kind, and it is made 100% for diecast collecting. The software is described in detail and you can download a free demo version of it at this website address: http://www.rb59.com/diecast Copyright 2006 Robert W. Fabrics That Keep You Healthy
by babb brodman - Tuesday, 29 April 2008, 01:47 PM
Anyone in the world

By Bronwen Elisabeth Roberts The world of fabric has become an exciting industry. Remember the story of Lycra, which was developed in the late 1950s, but was relatively unknown for another 20 years. Innovative materials often have a long period of conception. But, fortunately most of the world has cottoned on and we now have fabric specifically designed to protect bodies from the stress of commuting. Travel wear is waterproof, wrinkle proof and in some cases temperature proof: each garment has a specific function that improves uncomfortable travel conditions. There is fabric that monitors and adjusts to the wearers body heat, so people travelling between different climates remain comfortable. Running shoes are now available made from material that allows your feet to breathe; stockings impregnated with Vitamin C to keep our legs healthy during winter months, and health-giving fabric made from milk protein fibre. Now, you can have all thisfrom a fabric! Japanese Innovative Fabrics There has always been a high degree of innovation coming from Japan in terms of fabrics and fashion. Designers and manufacturers originally concentrated on the high-end market and the quality justified the price. Many manufacturers had originally produced natural fibres and fabrics, but much of the raw material had to be sourced from elsewhere in Asia. This fact combined with high labour costs, rendered it uncompetitive in a global market. The world became intrigued by the innovation of the Japanese, even in use of natural fabrics. The use of banana and pineapple fibres, are still produced in Japan, but due to production costs are costly even to the local Japanese. Health-Giving Fabrics Japanese manufacturers have turned circumstances to their advantage, moving from the production of natural to mainly synthetic fibres and fabrics. But synthetics produced in Japan need something extra to make them competitive in the global market: standard polyester can be produced anywhere and labour costs are lower in other parts of the globe. What has emerged is a range of highly engineered fibres and fabrics that are quite unlike anything being produced in Europe or North America. The trend focuses on one market in particular health-giving fabrics. These fabrics are imbued with properties that are said to provide protection against ultraviolet rays or bacteria. In Europe the tendency is to apply a protective coating or finishing treatment to fabrics, but while manufacturers in Japan also make use of coatings they innovate further by engineering the fibres themselves. At the fibres molecular level they are effectively manipulating the fabrics DNA, an approach that presents many more possibilities than procedures involving basic single-application coatings. Combining Tradition with Technology Most waterproof clothing in Europe relies on lamination technology for the application of a special coating. An alternative technology that focuses on the structure of fibre and fabric to provide the bulk of its performance has been developed in Japan. A waterproof, breathable fabric comprising a polyester micro-filament: there are also fabrics developed that provide thermal insulation. Air is one of our most effective sources of insulation, we use it naturally when goose bumps cause the hairs on our arms to rise and trap air as a layer of insulation in an effort to keep us warm. A fibre that traps air for us in our clothing can provide further insulation and now there is a sophisticated filament yarn for use in active sportswear. New fibres performance levels have a 10% improvement rate on fibres used in conventional fabric. Technical innovation in Japanese manufacturing goes beyond the coating and engineering of the fibres. The same technology may be used to very different effect by several companies. Ceramic fibre used by one provides protection from ultraviolet rays, while another incorporates ceramic to intensify the whiteness of its fabric; a third takes heat from the body then reintroduces it instantly making it suitable for clothing and bed linen. The World of Fabric has Expanded Exquisite fabrics that combine traditional hand processes with the latest technology are now available throughout the world. Traditional techniques and cutting-edge technology now combine for aesthetic value; form as well as function. By using fabrics that protect, building in functional objects and putting comfort, security and convenience first the function of fabric is taken to a whole new level in both fashion and interior design. The world of fabric just got larger with the online service of UK fabric supplier, Terrys Fabrics. You now have access to the best online selection of fabrics and accessories in the UK. As all computer monitors display colours differently, free fabric samples are available to allow you to see the actual colour and texture of the fabric before you buy. The Groom's Wedding Planning Duties
by babb brodman - Sunday, 27 April 2008, 10:00 AM
Anyone in the world

By Jasmine Macdonald In the past grooms took a backseat when it came to planning a wedding, preferring to let their bride-to-be do the majority of the work. However, times are now changing and more men want to be involved in the planning process. The problem is that most men really don't know how to plan a wedding so they need your guidance. Here are some responsibilities for the groom: 1. Gather Paperwork Make it his responsibility to apply for the wedding license, research blood-test requirements, and coordinate passport applications if needed for travel. In addition, add the bride's name to financial accounts, wills, insurance policies, if you have mutually decided this will be in your best interest. 2. Arrange Transportation Interview Limousine companies or arrange for other transportation to the wedding, and reception hall. Make sure to provide the transportation company with accurate directions and with a time schedule of the days events. 3. Plan the Honeymoon Once you both decide upon your locale, he should go about booking the trip and securing transportation to and from the airport, which could be provided by the best man. 4. Coordinate Groomsmen Attire In addition to the grooms attire, set up fittings for tuxedo rentals for the wedding. He should make sure everyone has the necessary accessories (i.e. vest, tie, matching shoes & socks). He should also arrange to have the tuxedos returned to the store the next business day after the wedding. 5. Help the bride set up a budget, write the guest list, and pick out the invitations. If the groom's parents want to contribute financially to the wedding, he should speak to them privately (without the bride). That way they will not feel any pressure. (Remember, his parents are going to be a very important part of your life so you do not want to alienate them!) The groom should ask his parents who they would like to invite to the wedding. Again, the groom may want to do this without his bride. Before speaking to the parents, make sure you know exactly how many people they are allowed to invite. Make the Most of Your Money
by babb brodman - Monday, 21 April 2008, 06:58 PM
Anyone in the world

By Lorraine Pirihi I'm always amazed that so many people spend most of their life at work and totally neglect their personal affairs. Many of the business people I work with want their professional lives to be in order, and admit that their personal affairs are in chaos. They have no systems for handling this most important area. The household paperwork is disorganisedpiled up in a corner of the housesomewhere. They have no idea where they spend their money and often have no plan for their financial future. If you do not organise your personal life, you won't have much of a future to look forward to. Avoid the excuses that you are too tired, don't have the time, and don't know how. Here are several tips to get you started: Set up a filing system to store your paperwork. File your papers in categories: Bank, Car, Children, Home, Medical, Insurance, Investment, Tax, Utilities etc. Organise direct debits for regular bills. Read, sort and action your snail and e-mail daily. This will avoid a big build-up. Make a note in your diary when you need to remember to do things. Check your bank accounts weekly via phone or the Internet to keep tabs on your money. Allocate a particular day and time each week to review your personal affairs. Get educated - attend seminars, read books and listen to information on wealth creation. (Our fortnightly Event Update often advertises worthwhile events that will help you). Having knowledge will make it easier to make decisions and take action. Organising Your Financial Future This area should be top priority. If you do nothing because it's too much effort well think about this. What would happen if you lose your job, have an accident and receive no income for 6 months? How would you (and your family) survive financially? Do you have your insurances in order? Where will you be in the next five years? Maybe retired and on a pension? Or perhaps you have superannuation you hope will be enough to live on? Unfortunately too many people are under false illusions about how superannuation will be the answer for a secure retirement. Hope is not enough. You have to be pro-active and seek out people who can help you. But be careful who you take advice from and what is the motivation behind them "selling" you their ideas. Educating yourself on how to make the most of your hard-earned money so you can create wealth should be a high priority. After all, if you're not interested in securing your financial future, who is? The Final Word If you take control of your personal affairs you will have peace of mind and know that you are making things happen. I once heard someone say: Some people make things happen, others watch things happen and others wonder what happened. What do you choose to do? The Path of Least Resistance
by babb brodman - Sunday, 20 April 2008, 05:27 PM
Anyone in the world

By Nan S. Russell I spend a bit of time on airplanes. So, I was surprised by what I observed on a regional jet. Yes, it was holiday travel. Yes, the flight was overbooked. Yes, infrequent and tired travelers were creating challenges for the only stewardess. Still, she saw the small boy, no more than eight, seated in the exit row next to his grandfather. She chose to ignore him, wishing and hoping her safety message stating a person must be over fifteen to sit in the exit row would fix it. Maybe she didn't want the hassle of trying to reseat passengers on an already late flight. Maybe she was tired, too. Who knows? What I do know is that despite the safety implications of her decision, she chose the path of least resistance that day. And she's not alone. Many people take that path at work. They choose the easier way rather than doing what needs to be done. But, the path of least resistance leads away from winning at working. You'll be on that path if you turn a blind eye to something you know needs solving but you don't want to address it or "rock the boat;" or you let a mistake pass your desk for someone else to catch and fix because it's too complicated or time-consuming; or you ignore a difficult person or a recurring problem because you don't want to create unpleasantness or deal with conflict; or you pass off a poor performer to another department rather than face the difficult conversation; or you resolve the customer complaint without calling out or solving the bigger issues behind it. In my thinking, that's the adult equivalent of my son, as a child, pretending he never noticed the toilet paper roll needed replacing. He'd leave a sheet or two on the cardboard tube so he didn't have to be the one to do anything about it. Of course no one in the house was fooled. No one at work is either. In twenty years of management, I've learned that the difference between doing the right thing and the easy thing significantly differentiates people's performance. We can debate what the right thing to do is at any given time. Sometimes, it might be choosing the more difficult, challenging, time-consuming path or the one that comes with more risk. But like my son and that stewardess, I think most of us know what the right thing is most of the time, and we know when we've chosen the easier way. In Lee Ann Womack's country hit, "I Hope You Dance," there's a great line that applies as much to work as it does to life: "I hope you'll never fear those mountains in the distance; Never settle for the path of least resistance." You see, if you want to be winning at working, you can't fear the mountains of change, discomfort, conflict, unpleasantness, hard work, or difficult choices. (c) 2005 Nan S. Russell. Women Who Wait Till Marriage To Have Sex Do Not Respect The Men Who Wait Wiith Them
by babb brodman - Thursday, 17 April 2008, 06:33 PM

By Teddy Shabba You might be surprised to discover how many women are waiting until marriage before having sex. You also might be surprised at the number of these women who have already hae sex, yet still insist upon waiting till marriage. While I can respect the fact that these women have the right to their decision, I can not respect the men who choose to get into a monogamous relationship with these women, unless they themselves had chosen to wait until marriage before having sex; before meeting her. Also, while the woman you are with may appreciate the fact that you are willing to wait, she will never respect you for choosing her wish over your needs. Just so we are clear when a man gives into this type of request he essentially has told the woman that she has both control of and power over the relationship. So what is a man to do when a woman tells him this? He can make it clear to her that he doesn't get involved in monogamous relationships that don't involve sex. The other option, which in most cases you should try first, is to completely ignore her statement and continue to act as if she was any other woman you are dating. You should also begin to see other women if you haven't already started as well. Now it is also important that she know you are not in a exclusive relationship so there isn't any confusion as to where you and her stand in regards to a relationship. If she where to think that the two of you where in a exclusive relationship and then found out you were sleeping with another woman the relationship would be over. Whereas, if she knows you are seeing other women while she might not appreciate it, she will respect you more because you are honest and man enough to know what you will and will not accept in a relationship. In the end it is important that you realize you are in control of your own reality and not what she wants in a relationship. How to Lose Weight Naturally in Seven Steps
by babb brodman - Monday, 14 April 2008, 11:16 PM
Anyone in the world

By Moss Greene How to lose weight naturally requires following the natural laws of weight loss. In order to look and feel great, it's the only way to go. And, no matter what anyone tells you, there's no way around the natural law of how to lose weight naturally it's based on science. To begin with, you must burn more calories than you consume. Now that's settled, here are seven steps to make it happen for you. #1 Start from a foundation of happiness. Nobody wins a game when they're unhappy playing it and the weight management game is no different. Self-acceptance doesn't mean you can't want more. It's a delicate balance be grateful for who you are and what you've got and be enthusiastic about the future you're creating. #2 Make a plan based on what you already know. By now we're all experts on the topic of weight loss. But there's so much conflicting information it gets confusing. So, let's face facts. Just like managing your time, money or health, weight management requires forethought, organization and planning. Based on your lifestyle, to burn more calories than you consume, how are you going to manage the details? That includes meal planning, calorie counting and the time and inclination to exercise. Natural doesn't mean spontaneous. As a matter of fact spontaneous gratification is what gets most of us into trouble. #3 Choose the healthiest diet possible. Most people want to lose weight because they think looking better will make them feel better. But the only way to feel better is to manage your thoughts, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. There's just no two ways around it. #4 Find the best way to exercise every day. Exercise doesn't have to be complicated or extreme. It just has to be happening. Work it out with your schedule. There are great exercise videos, a variety of gyms and walking paths everywhere. Choose a time and method and make it a habit. #5 Manage your emotions. Emotional eating is a major reason for failure. Whether it's eating calorie dense, addictive foods or just plain eating too many calories, it's generally the result of using food for entertainment or to sooth and stuff down emotions. Come up with a list of other things you enjoy (besides eating) activities that support your well being. Begin changing old bad habits to consistently choose healthy enjoyment. #6 Write down your calories every day. As with any other project, if you can't measure it, you can't manage it. Studies prove the majority of people who lose weight and keep it off watch their calories. And research also shows that when people estimate the amounts they eat, without writing it down (at least in the beginning), they grossly underestimated how much they're consuming. #7 Be committed and persistent. Nothing ever gets accomplished without commitment and persistence. The story goes that Thomas Edison had 999 failures before he finally invented the light bulb. If you've tried and failed at weight loss 999 times, learn from your mistakes and do it better next time. The only way to fail is to give up. How to lose weight naturally is not rocket science. It just takes good old-fashioned common sense and stick-to-itiveness. Alternative Medicine - Why the Rage and What is It?

Anyone in the world

By Michelle Ludick Alternative medicine seems to have become the NEW BLACK in the world of medicine. More and more people are heading towards different forms of keeping healthy than the conventional run of the mill way of doing things. There is no clear definition of Alternative medicine but the general consensus seems to be that it is non conventional. Nearly everyone is thinking about or doing either reflexology or aromatherapy, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, western herbal medicine, Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), dietary therapy, homeopathy, seeking advice from spiritual healers or a little of them all. And so we see the different ways and means of non conventional medical treatment that goes on. Why is it the rage? Alternative medication tends to focus more on the patient than the disease. I hear you asking why that is a good thing. Well we are all unique individuals and what works for the one may not always work for the next. In fact in some cases the medication prescribed is nothing but a complete waste of time. There are sometimes other underlying issues at play that conventional medicine does not always see. It has been said that conventional medicine may be quite effective in dealing with traumatic injury and crises yet it tends to fall short in understanding and effectively treating chronic diseases and degeneration. Conventional medicine focuses on the symptoms while alternative medicine generally takes the more holistic approach. People are also getting tired of the general adverse effects, the battling of addictions and the increased costs of the more conventional side of medicine. Health care around the world tends to cover less and less and people have had enough. That coupled with the fact that when most doctors may be focusing on the symptoms, they have little, if any regard for the patient and the emotional trauma that they go through. All this leaves a rather bad taste in the patients mouth. Prescription drugs tend to be habit forming and they may have serious adverse side effects that will only be discovered after the fact. Many prescription and over the counter drugs originated from herbs or have herbs as part of the content. Some experts have gone so far as to state the chemical medication that we get prescribed are not defined properly and tend to be rather misleading in what the health risks may be. Herbs have been used for time and memorial in treating diseases and ailments and it has come back into popularity with a bang. Probably because there uses are so vast. They not only act as a cure in ailments but they are also great as a preventative. Adaptogenic herbs are herbs that increase resistance and resilience in the bodies immune system and then you have the tonics that are taken for increased energy. Herbs can be used internally or made into salves or balms for external usage. Herbal teas are great as a relaxant. Chinese Herbal medicine is an ancient form of healing that originated approximately 4000 years ago and until the time of the renaissance it was far more successful in treating illnesses than Western Medicine. Chinese Herbal medicine incorporates the Yin and Yang, the flow of Qi (pronounced Chee) and the theory of the 5 elements. Health is when the flow of Qi (energy) is balanced because of a constant dynamic process between the yin and the yang. Chinese medicine is extremely effective, safe and gentle. Ayurveda comes from the words ayus meaning life and veda meaning knowledge. Its beginnings is purported to come from ancient Hindu Sanskrit written on palm leaves. Herbal medicine is given in conjunction to massages, change of diet and yoga exercises. I am not suggesting that herbs are without dangers because there are very real ones (arsenic is natural, and we are all aware of the dangers of ephedra), so herbs are only to be used as directed by an Herbalist. Always tell you Doctor if and what herbs you are already taking as some herbs clash horribly and the side effects can be quite dangerous when taken in conjunction with Chemical drugs.
